met her match

(This is the first of a series of many blog posts about our 10 day, 1,800 mile vacation with two small children and the adventures & exhaustion that ensued!)

While Matt was backpacking with his friends Brett & Mark in Yosemite - catching fish, sleeping in the wild and remaining quite dirty for three days straight (pretty much doing his guy thing),

I hung out in Merced with my very gracious in-laws who cared for us in Matt's absence and with my college roomie Erin (brett's wife) and her daughter Emmie!

While Erin and I were catcing up, the girls enjoyed doting on Peter

and discovered that they both share a love of tackle hugs.

This kept up for 3 days and they never tired of it!

Hannah has finally met her match.

Okay, some friends gave us these shirts as hand-me-downs and we thought they were pretty awesome,

but maybe slightly ironic. Because at 3 months, Peter weighs almost 18 pounds and is in 9 month clothing.

But he's loving life and finds most things worth smiling at and cooing for!

P.S. Here's a little outtake from our photoshoot - Peter spit up all over Matt's hands! Oh, so very typical. :)

the art of imitation

2 year olds are notorious for parallel play and imitation...

Here are some good examples from Hannah and Reagan (who is just 8 weeks older):

Hannah comes up to me and gives me the sign for eat. Reagan comes up and does the same thing.

Reagan puts her hands behind her head. Hannah puts her hands behind her head.

They are constantly watching eachother and doing what the other one does.

Reagan sits down to read a book. Hannah sits next to her and reads a book.

It's pretty awesome to watch!

Now, if only I could harness this imitative energy and ...

(I'm still trying to come up with a good use for it, any suggestions???)
