normal +1

Life in our house is starting to feel normal again. Or at least I could describe it as normal plus one.

We're back to our daily routines and settling in as a family of four. I made dinner by myself for the first time last night. Our floor even got vacuumed this morning and shelves dusted (I take so much joy in having the energy to do these tasks).

And Peter is granting me more sleep in the evening - in fact last night he slept 7 1/2 hours straight - WOW! (I'm not counting on him doing that again tonight, but one can always hope.)

Hannah is still very in love with her brother and wants to cuddle him and care for him often.

Peter just started giving us smiles and it sure makes the last six weeks worth it!

Hannah also is giving big smiles to summertime - she loves playing outside with sand & water and especially enjoyed her first ice cream cone (all to herself) at grandma & grandpa's house last week.

The first six weeks (in my experience) are the hardest with a new baby and I'm so glad we made it through. Cheers! to being on the upside of things!

if you give a mouse a cookie

This morning during breakfast Hannah gave Grandpa a kiss. Grandpa turned to the rest of us and said that when Hannah gives him a kiss he would give her whatever she wanted, even a cookie. (little ears heard the word "cookie" and immediately understood.)

Hannah held him to it.
Grandpa gave Hannah a cookie with her oatmeal.
She loved it!
I believe the saying goes, if you give a mouse a cookie...what will she ask for next?

matt's creations

Over the past 8 years of married life Matt has become a great cook! (I must admit this was not a skill I ever dreamed he'd possess when we said "I do". I'm pretty sure he has even surprised his mother with this talent.)

Here are a few of his recent creations:

a double layer chocolate cake with blackberry preserve filling and ganache frosting

marinated and grilled steak & veggies with homemade spicy pesto and roasted sweet potatoes

a fruit cake for Hannah's 2nd birthday (recreated from a picture of a cake my mom made for my 2nd birthday)
aahhh, this is the good life - to have a husband who cooks for you!

recent pics

Welcome to our new blog site!
To greet you here are some recent pictures of our growing kids.

Peter is quite a calm, happy baby. And there
is nothing sweeter than to see him sleep.

And of course, who can't appreciate a precious pair of baby feet?

Hannah has found the silly streak in her personality...

and loves to entertain us. (The static electricity helped a bit.)
