pancakes

Blueberry pancakes are one of my favorite meals. I have fond memories of my mom serving blueberry pancakes on occasion for dinner. Yum!

I have passed on my love of blueberry pancakes to my husband and my kids. Since she was one year old Hannah has been able to eat 4 medium sized blueberry pancakes. Peter is right there with her.

On our way home from the airport a couple of weeks ago we stopped for a midnight breakfast/dinner at IHOP. Hannah got a happy face pancake. She has been clamoring for another one ever since.

So this morning we made these:

I had to make one for myself too.

It's hard not to smile when you're looking at a smiley face pancake. :)

another wonderful year!

Today our family is giving thanks for another year with Matt Robbins, a beloved husband and father!  I find it is so easy to take each day for granted and just fear what the future might hold for us or loathe turning another year older.
But today is a day to celebrate - we have had another year of laughs, love and growing together as a family.
Thanks be to God!

(I won't tell you how old he is, but you might be able to guess.)

Hannah informed me, "Daddy will be so happy if we make him a crown."
so we did.

We celebrated in traditional Robbin's style with a crazy cake.

There was lots of daddy love

and chocolate cake love.

(p.s. if you are wondering about the large red, blue, and purple bruise on Peter's head - he fell headfirst into our back door last night, ouch! but he made a quick recovery and I think it looks worse than it is.)

yes, we are having fun

Just in case you are wondering - yes we are having fun in Kauai!

This about sums it up:

sand  everywhere

lots of rest

snorkeling in the water

crazy hats

beautiful sunsets

great family time

(p.s. so glad we have a grammy with us!)

dinner

It was just me and the kids for dinner tonight.

And it definitely was not dull.

Peter was absolutely delighted to smear lasagna all over his face.

In fact, as I was uploading these pictures (he was on round 3 of lasagna) I looked over and the entire bowl was turned upside down on top of his head.

"Take picture of me mommy!"
Instead of saying "cheese" for a picture Hannah decided it would be better to say "Beauty and the Beast".

We enjoyed our first ever cake pops for dessert.

I think this girl is absolutely beautiful and full of all sorts of faces!

" when daddy is coming home?"

soon sweetheart!

pool time

It's pool time at grandma and grandpa's house!

And Peter is off!
(he loves playing in water but actually hates the pool - i can't quite figure it out.)

Hannah is finally comfortable swimming around with her water wings.

And there might be just enough time for a popsicle treat.

water

Water is a fun toy on a hot summer day.

Today our friends' the Seitzs came for a visit and after lunch I looked up to see Hannah & Joshua outside, with the hose turned on (not quite sure which one of them managed that) - spraying each other with water and screaming with delight.

yes, delight!

no matter that they were already soaking wet. They continued to spray each other,

water our cherry tree,

and hose off the chairs.

p.s. Peter loves water too.  Here is an almost daily pose of his - standing outside the back door, looking in and soaking wet from the water table.
